Kaname Ozuma (born Katsutoshi Sakai, 1939–2011) was a Japanese artist from Kashiwazaki, Niigata. He studied painting from an early age under his uncle and later attended Chuoh Art School in Tokyo. After recovering from tuberculosis, he worked at the Awazu Gallery, where he refined his skills but grew disillusioned with the traditional art world.
Adopting the pen name Yoko Ozuma, he began working as an illustrator and soon developed a distinctive style combining beauty, bondage, and tattoo imagery. His innovative use of pointillism and tattoo motifs brought him recognition and marked the beginning of his devotion to tattoo culture. Later changing his name to Kaname Ozuma, he collaborated with tattoo artists in Japan and abroad and became a leading figure in Japanese tattooed art, known especially for his evocative portrayals of tattooed women. His work extended across many media, and he remains regarded as one of Japan’s most original artists.
